Why social enterprise?
A sizeable part of the business community in the Western world has been asking questions: is there another way of doing business? Is there an approach that will retain the proven benefits of free trade and free enterprise? How can that approach foster change and give back to society?
Recent statistics show that small businesses employ nearly 90% of the UK workforce, with only 10% being employed by larger corporations. However, a disproportionate amount of profit is allocated to maximising shareholder value as opposed to investing in social and environmental projects. This has prompted many entrepreneurs and business owners to explore methods in which the balance can be shifted towards society, the community and the environment.
K4 Innovations’ Managing Principal says: “Our aim is to create a modern way of doing business involving social entrepreneurship and enterprise. We are fully committed to getting involved and implementing positive change through the company’s work. Social Enterprise is the ideal medium through which we can make this happen.
People are a priority for us and we see the company as a living and breathing organism, full of potential and possibilities. We thrive on working with people who support social enterprise ethics and who want to make changes in today’s society and business landscape.”
